What Is a Text Repeater?

A text repeater is a tool that duplicates any piece of text β€” a word, sentence, paragraph, emoji, or character β€” a specified number of times. You can choose how repetitions are separated: by a new line, a comma, a space, a pipe character, or no separator at all. WordMetrics' text repeater also lets you number each repetition and trim unwanted whitespace automatically.

Uses for a Text Repeater

Generating test data β€” developers and QA testers use text repeaters to quickly generate large volumes of dummy text for testing form fields, databases, APIs, and UI components. Repeating a sample value 1,000 times is much faster than typing or copy-pasting manually.

Writing practice β€” language learners repeat vocabulary words and phrases to practice spelling and memorization. Teachers use repeated text exercises for handwriting and typing drills.

Social media and messaging β€” repeat emojis, symbols, or short phrases for creative posts. Generate long strings of characters to test input limits on forms and platforms.

Filling documents β€” repeat placeholder text, bullet points, or list items to quickly fill out templates, spreadsheets, or documents.

Repeat Text with Custom Separators

Different use cases require different separators. Use "New line" to create a vertical list of repeated text β€” useful for generating line-by-line data. Use "Comma" or "Comma + space" to create CSV-style data. Use "None" to concatenate all repetitions without any gap β€” useful for generating long strings of characters. Use the "Custom" option to set any separator you need, including multi-character strings like " β†’ " or " | ".

Numbered Repetitions

Enable the "Number each repetition" toggle to prefix each copy with its sequence number (1. 2. 3. etc.). This is useful when you need numbered lists, ordered data, or when you want to reference specific items in the repeated output. Combine numbering with new-line separation to generate a clean numbered list from any piece of text.
